Yiorgos Anomeritis was born and resides at N. Smyrni. He is economist with a degree the Athens Economic University. He has an extensive managerial experience and has served as a Managing Director or President at various major private and state companies including the National Mortgage Bank of Greece SA, the Agro Insurance SA and the Industrial Reconstruction Organization SA. Mr Anomeritis has an extensive activity as a member of the Hellenic Parliament elected since 1993 for 14 years with the PASOK party and held the positions of Minister of Mercantile Marine (2001-2003), Minister of Agriculture (1998-2001), Alternate Minister of National Economy (1995-1996) and Deputy Minister of Economics (1996). He has a very good knowledge of the structures and activities of the European Union as he has served as President of the Council of Ministers (Transport and shipping) at 2003. Mr Anomeritis is known for his action against the dictatorship in Greece, he is awarded with the Medal of Honour of the Hellenic Democracy, the “Ipektsi” Peace and Friendship Award, the Medal of the Supreme Taxiarch of the Holy Sepulchre and others. Mr Anomeritis is the author of a large number of books and articles covering various aspects such as poetry and literature, environment, economics, political science, management, history and research. Against a background of extensive involvement in Cycladic affairs, he has published in recent years the following works:”Transferences”, a selection of poems (Livanis Editions, 2000), “The Byzantine park of Tragaia, Naxos” (Militos Editions, 2009), “Oktanema” (poems 1997-2009, Gavriilidis Editions), the republication of various poetry collections (“The circle of spring”, “Redefinitions”, “The Collectives”, “Improvisations”, “Impressions”, “References” 1963-1997, Gavriilidis Editions), Aghia Aikaterina of Oia (Militos Editions, 2009), “The Castle of Naxos and its Churches” (Militos Editions, 2010), “Naxos and the Small Cyclades, exaltis” (Militos Editions, 2010), “Monasteries of the Cyclades” (Militos Editions,2011), “Christodoulos Kalergis, an itinerant artist “from the island of Mykonos” (Militos Editions, 2011), “Patriarchal sigils regarding the holy island of the Cyclades 1553-1821” (Militos Editions, 2012), “Andros ex-altis (Militos Editions, 2012) and Aghios Nikolaos of Pireaus, the Church of shipping and seamen”, (Militos Editions, 2012) and "The life and works of hagiographer Christodoulos Kalergis 'from the island of Mykonos' " (Μilitos Editions, 2013).
