The investment of 420 million Euros by the port of Piraeus on the cruise industry and the activation of a specialized subsidiary company concerning service management and infrastructure were emphasized on among other things by the Chairman of the Hellenic Ports Association, Mr. George Anomeritis, speaking at the SEA TOURISM FORUM Posidonia 2012.
The Board of PPA SA approved the financial results for the first quarter of 2012 (January 1st - March 31st) and the statements of financial position, comprehensive income, cash flows and changes in equity, which were prepared under the International Financial Reporting Standards
The annual briefing for members of Institutional Investors was held today, by the management of PPA SA, in the offices of the ASE.The Company, its business and the financial results for 2011 were presented by the Chairman of the Board and CEO of PPA SA, Mr. G. Anomeritis, the Managing Director, Mr. P. Petroulis, the General Director, Mr. St. Hatzakos, and the Financial Director, Ms. E. Venardou.
Piraeus was chosen by the Board of Directors of the Association of Mediterranean Cruise Ports (MEDCRUISE) as its headquarters during the 81st spring meeting on 18 / 19 May 2012, which was held at the Headquarters of PPA SA and chaired by the new president of MEDCRUISE, Stavros Hatzakos, and General Director of PPA SA.
In the Annual General Meeting of the European Union Ports (ESPO), which took place in SOPOT Poland, the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA SA) took part, headed by the General Director of the Organization, Mr. Stavros Hatzakos, and the General Secretary Mr. Thanos Pallis.
The Container Terminal of PPA SA (Pier I) showed a significant throughput increase of 45.63%, during the first quarter of 2012, according to the relevant directorate. Specifically, 166.000 TEU's were handled in the period of January to March 2012, compared to 113.990 TEU's in the corresponding period of last year.

The International conference on the successful implementation of the MEMO project, that is co-financed by the Program MED, is organized by Piraeus Port Authority S.A.–Lead Partner, in the hotel METROPOLITAN, on the 27th of March 2012 (09:15 – 15:00) in Athens.
The figures of container movement at the Container Terminal Pier I of PPA SA have shown impressive growth.
